Steve graduated from Montana State University with an B.S. in Film & TV Production and began work as a production assistant with WMLA-TV (Channel 7) in Washington, DC. He then moved to the sister station, WLVA-TV (Channel 13) in Lynchburg VA where he shot and edited news film. Both stations have changed their call letters since.
While in the DC area, Steve married, Heather, a Montana girl he met as an undergrad. Shortly after they moved to Virginia, she died suddenly from a congenital heart problem, that was diagnosed properly only after her younger brother died of the same disease.
Steve hooked up with Festival Records, recorded music he had written and performed (guitar and singing), and played professionally for about a year. Music has always been a huge part of his life. At present he has two acoustic guitars, two electric guitars, a bass guitar, a banjo, a mandolin and a cigar box guitar.
Steve then jumped to Abilene Christian University where he started a Master of Divinity program - all the while singing at Crystal's Pizza Parlor as part time work. Before he finished, he took a job as Associate Minister with a church in Palo Alto, CA and picked up an M.A. in Religion from Pepperdine University. He then finished up his M.Div from ACU and married Sharon, whom he had met at ACU.
Steve worked with the church in Palo Alto, eventually as Pulpit Minister and then moved to serve as Minister of Education for a Campbell, CA church. The Campbell Church became his permanent home even to this day.
As if he didn't have enough schooling already, Steve picked up a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and began working with a law firm in San Jose, CA. He then jumped out on his own for 12 years, and finally joined the Trust Department of a Bay Area bank where he worked in trust administration. Steve worked with banks in trust administration until he retired in 2024.
Steve has served in many different ministry roles over the years. Besides his wife, Sharon, he has two wonderful grown children and three amazing grandchildren.
